At our market events, some people say, “That crossbody bag looks just like an old-school schoolbag.” That’s true. And it’s meant as a compliment.

MAX and MORITZ are full-fledged crossbody bags made of genuine leather and felt – for anyone who really wants to carry things but doesn’t want to lug around a bulky bag. Leisure, office, biking, public transit. Both work. Both fit.

There’s just one difference between the two: the size. Which one is right depends on what you need to carry.

Which one fits you best?

MAX is the handier of the two.

If you want to carry a water bottle (0.7 L), A4-sized documents, a tablet up to 11 inches, and your usual everyday essentials, MAX is a great choice. Not too big, not too small – “it’s just the right size,” as they often say at our markets. It looks balanced and classic, and goes with almost anything.

MAX Dimensions:

Fits: DIN A4+ documents, tablet up to 11 inches, 0.7-liter water bottle (lying flat)
(For example, an 11-inch iPad fits into the slip pocket without the folio and keyboard; pen on the side)

MORITZ holds more.

If you switch between working from home and the office, need a laptop, or frequently carry folders and documents, go with MORITZ. It’s wider and slightly taller than MAX – very noticeable, but not oversized. Still easy to carry.

Rule of thumb: If you’re unsure whether MAX will suffice – and especially if you’re asking about the size – you’ll usually end up choosing MAX. If you need MORITZ, you usually already know it.

What goes where?

Main compartment for most of the contents. On the body side, a slip pocket for a tablet or laptop. On the front, a leather slip pocket for a smartphone, wallet, and keys. Exterior pocket on the back for quick access.

Two leathers – both age beautifully, both get better over time:

Body: 2.5 mm leather
Brown buffalo leather
natural open-grain leather, treated with waxes and oils. Matte surface, pull-up antique effect.
Black vegetable-tanned cowhide leather
finish with wax and heat. Subtle sheen, irregular antique tones.
