Anti-slip coating for felt

The natural latex underside prevents seat cushions, felt pads, bench pads and much more from slipping and fixes the mats in the right place.

How does the anti-slip work?

Due to the adhesive (sticking) properties of the coating, the products hold better on all bases, especially on very smooth surfaces.

What does the coating look like?

The anti-slip coating is a rubber-like coating on the underside. It is semi-transparent and minimally raised. On all products, it is not noticeable on the top side and is also not visible due to some distance we keep to the edge.

How is it made?

The latex is applied in liquid form to the underside of the felt products by hand using a spatula. This must then be allowed to dry thoroughly. The latex bonds inseparably with the felt fibres, creating the non-slip coating.

What material is used?

We use a thick, pre-vulcanised and ammonia-free latex emulsion. It is durable, robust and permanently elastic after drying. The basis of this emulsion is natural latex or natural rubber, which is obtained from the rubber tree (Hevea/Siphonia Brasiliensis). Rubber is biodegradable by microorganisms, as A. Steinbüchel proves in his project.

When do I need it and when do I leave it out?

You always need the anti-slip coating when you are concerned that the product will not stay in place on smooth surfaces. This is the case with heavy use and when there is a lot of movement.

You leave out the coating if you want to use the products on both sides. If necessary, you can also buy an anti-slip mat at any DIY store. Please bear in mind, however, that these mats are often visible on the side and noticeably raised, so that they can also be felt on the top side.
